Media & Communications Director

General Overview

The Media & Communications Director will champion the marketing and communications strategy of Real Life on the Palouse from conceptualization to execution, supporting our vision of “reaching the world for Jesus, one person at a time.” This position is responsible for reaching and engaging with the various audiences of Real Life in a consistent, relatable, and visually appealing manner, enhancing not only what happens within the four walls of the church, but outside of them as well. The Media & Communications Director will pair relatable, compelling copy with fresh design, multimedia elements, and relevant marketing strategies to communicate all Jesus is doing in and through Real Life. The ideal candidate is passionate about the mission and vision of Real Life, has strong aesthetic and design sensibilities, is savvy in multiple forms of media production, and is a strategic thinker with exceptional writing skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all marketing and communication platforms, including but not limited to website, social media, podcast, email newsletter, print, and digital media

  • Build community engagement through web and social media channels

  • Develop and manage RL brand identity and style guide

  • Manage and implement a consistent communication plan and social media strategy

  • Draft and copy edit all print and digital content, including but not limited to printed collaterals, sermon notes, bulletins, announcement graphics, and webpages

  • Design series art, announcement graphics, print materials, signage, and apparel, and handle any other visual needs

  • Collaborate with Production Director in creating video content such as announcements, sermon bumpers, testimony videos, recaps, and promos
    Collaborate with the creative team to develop engaging, innovative content for worship services, sermon series, announcements, social media, and the website

  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteers to grow and perform in their function, including but not limited to social media, graphic design, copywriting, and video production

  • Oversee in-house and outsourced printing

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of marketing/communications experience in a church and/or business environment

  • Strong grasp of English language, copywriting, marketing strategy, and storytelling

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

  • Proficiency with Final Cut Pro/Logic Pro X or other audio and video editing software

  • Demonstrated experience in video production, from pre-production to final cut

  • Strong eye for design, visuals, aesthetics, and vibe

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Strong collaborator

  • Able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing, communications, or media production

  • Experience in live video, audio, or lighting production

  • IT or tech support experience
